The AGC of America recently unveiled it's second phase of the Construction Futures campaign, an initiative designed to educate teens about the different types of construction and the career opportunities available to them through curriculum-based lessons and hands-on exploration. On Site! is a multi-media middle/junior high school program (grades 6-9), geared for use in social studies and math classes with links to language arts and science.

The On Site! tool kit is a turnkey supplementary education program that educates teens about the construction industry, how it impacts their lives and the construction careers available to them. On Site! travels through time and brings teens from the early construction in ancient Rome to construction industry

In January 1999, over one hundred and fifty-thousand fifth grade students at schools across the nation began learning about the exciting, rewarding, and diverse career opportunities the construction industry offers.

The nation’s premier educational material publishing company, Scholastic, and the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), jointly developed and distributed supplemental educational materials to fifth grade teachers across the country. The materials are presented in a tool kit titled Build Up! and is structured to present an exciting and favorable image of the construction industry.

Construction firms of the Associated General Contractors of New Hampshire have sponsored over forty Build Up! kits for 5^th grade classrooms across the state. The Build Up! kit is to promote careers in the construction industry to fifth grade students.

The contents of the Build Up! tool kit is structured around a fifth grade curriculum. The Build Up! tool kit is shaped like a toolbox and contains classroom exercises, learning guides, materials and supplies for 30 students. Students learn about the many different careers in construction and go on "treasure hunts" around their schools to learn about the different building systems that are found in the school. The fifth graders will also create structures in class with different construction materials and study infrastructure that they encounter in their daily lives.

The chapter is proud of the overwhelming response from members to sponsor kits in their local area, with some members volunteering their time to visit the schools in which they sponsored.
